Project Management Oversight: Final Rule

Access to law authorizing project management oversight for federally funded transit projects in the USA added to PMWL

19 December 2016 – Dallas, TX and Washington, DC, USA – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) in the Public program and project management (P/PM) resources section.  The new resource is titled Project Management Oversight: Final Rule (49 CFR Part 633) and covers federally funded rapid transit projects in the United States.

This law passed by the US congress in 1989 implemented section 324 of the Transportation and Uniform Relocation Assistance Act of 1987.  This section permitted the Urban Mass Transportation Administration (now the Federal Transit Authority within the US Department of Transportation) to use up to ½ of 1 percent of the funds made available in each fiscal year under the agency’s capital grants programs for project management oversight of capital projects.  Section 324 also required a recipient implementing a major capital project with Federal financial assistance to prepare and implement a project management plan. For more details, read the law.

This law is still in effect as of 15 December 2016.

To access this new resource, go to the Public P/PM Resources section in the PMWL at https://pmworldlibrary.net/public-ppm-resources/, click on “USA Agencies and Organizations”, then click on “USA National Government Organizations”, select "US Congress – Acts and Laws” and scroll down to find the resource.  Must be registered and logged in to access.
