WIPO Guide to Using PATENT INFORMATION

Guide provides basic tips about patents around the world

01 February 2016 – Milan, Italy – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library related to other information useful for projects and project management. The new resource is titled “WIPO Guide to Using PATENT INFORMATION”.

160201 - Gasparini - WIPO LOGOThe World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO – was established in 1967 and it is a self-funding agency of the United Nations with 188 member states. The mission of the agency is to enhance the creation of a balanced international intellectual property system, allowing the spread of innovations among countries, gaining higher levels of knowledge and development.

This resource, published by the WIPO, contains quick and clear facts about patent and international rules that set their use in different countries. Short but exhaustive, the contents of the guide are split in four main groups. The first one gives a general picture of what the patent is and how it works. The second part of the document presents a summary of the information connected to a patent – contained in it. Then, there is an interesting part on searching patents with several good tips for effective researches. The last pages are on how to use the information carried by a patent.
