25 June 2019 – Mumbai, India – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to PM Tools and Technology. The new resource is titled “ChatOps in Project Management”, an article on the blog Riter.co.

Jesse Newland, GitHub Ops introduced ChatOps – an open source chatbot for automating deployment monitoring, provisioning and many other things to enhance the culture of remote work. ChatOps implements conversation-driven collaboration by combining the oldest ways of collaboration with the newest technologies. Project Managers and software development teams are using these tools to integrate third party software such as project management tools, billing software, time tracking sysems and others with the chat apps. These practices drive organizational activity in chat rooms and avoid tasks that distract employees.

This article discusses the working of ChatOps and the way of collaboration it provides project managers. Also, it mentions different chat apps available and are already in use that automates the routine tasks done by both the technical and non-technical teams in IT teams. ChatOps improves knowledge sharing, the way of learning or training and also keeps track of history of changes that many project management tools cannot. However the project managers are now focusing more on extensive integration with third party services with the help of connected plugins.
