Access to article on how to help your team members to grow personally and professionally by British project leadership expert added to PMWL

Resource provided by Domenico Moccia

21 September 2017 – Milan, Italy – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library related to Leadership. The new resource is titled “How to fast-track team members’ growth”, published by Susanne Madsen, author of “The Power of Project Leadership”.

This article is aimed to provide managers and project leaders with a new way to develop their team members’ skills, with a faster and more efficient method.

According to the author, instead of one-to-one sessions or an outsourced model implying professional training courses, the solution is represented by small group development. If the goal is to grow the managerial skills and the ability to analyse and present a topic for a group of three or four people, it is possible to set out a development plan for the entire group outlining the topics that will be covered (e.g. planning, negotiating, interviewing, etc.) along with specific business themes. After the schedule of topics has been decided, every team member will be asked to prepare a 10 minutes presentation on a different topic to share with the team; in this way, the presenter will have the possibility to practice his or her communication skills in a safe environment and the whole team will learn something new on a useful topic.

The role of the leader is to provide constructive feedback, highlighting the positive aspects and giving one or two suggestions for improvements.

To access this new resource, go to the Applications and Hot Topics section of the library at https://pmworldlibrary.net/applications-and-topics/, click on “Leadership”, scroll down to resource. Must be a registered member and logged-in to access.
