16 February 2018 – Mumbai, India – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library on the subject of Hyderabad Metro Rail. The new resource is titled “Hyderabad Metro Rail Project – An Overview” on the website of Rail analysis.

In a country like India, the developing cities are facing a lot problem in transportation system due to growth in the population, owning of private vehicles, urbanization and congestion. This is directly impacting households, business and the urban community at large. There is a major impact on the environment and health due to air pollution and transportation system also added much to it. These days it became much difficult to develop and maintain the urban transport systems. These have many issues like congestion, pollution and an increase in the number of road accidents. It is little difficult and complex to develop and maintain the urban transport. So, to address the issues and problems related to transport system in Hyderabad city, Government of Telangana has taken the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project. The project is being executed on Public-Private partnership(PPP) model on design, build, finance, operate and transfer(DBFOT) basis. The total cost of the project is Rs. 14, 132 crores (USD 2.36 bn).

The development of the network was divided into phases, Phase I and Phase II. Phase I has three lines and it has a stretch of 72 Kms. The stretch of 30 Kms from Miyapur to Nagole with 24 stations is been inaugurated on 28th November 2017 and over 2 lakh passengers traveled on the 1st day of metro operations.
