ISO 31000 – Risk Management

Access to ISO 31000 Risk Management standard added to PM World Library

160220 - Plecas - ISO LOGO20 February 2016 – Zagreb, Croatia – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library related to Risk Management. The new resource is titled “ISO 31000 – Risk Management Standard.”

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards. It was founded in 1947, and since then has published more than 19000 International Standards covering almost all aspects of technology and business. Today they have members from 162 countries.

ISO 31000 – Risk Management: Risks affecting organizations can have consequences in terms of economic performance and professional reputation, as well as environmental, safety and societal outcomes. Therefore, managing risk effectively helps organizations to perform well in an environment full of uncertainty.

ISO 31000:2009, Risk management – Principles and guidelines, provides principles, framework and process for managing risk. It’s not specific to any industry or sector and can be applied to any type of risk, whatever its nature, whether having positive or negative consequences.

Related Standards include ISO Guide 73:2009, Risk management - Vocabulary complements ISO 31000 by providing a collection of terms and definitions relating to the management of risk; ISO/IEC 31010:2009, Risk management – Risk assessment techniques focuses on risk assessment concepts, processes and the selection of risk assessment techniques; and ISO 3100 – Risk Management – A practical guide for SMEs, a handbook providing indepth guidance for SMEs looking to improve their risk management practices
