3 February 2020 – Mumbai, India – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to cost trends in the healthcare industry. The new resource is titled “Medical Cost Trend: Behind the Numbers 2020” and is a report from PwC published in 2019.

Medical cost trend is the projected percentage increase in the cost to treat patients from one year to the next, assuming that benefits remain the same. This report estimates the projected increases in per capita costs of medical services and prescription medicine that affect commercial insurers’ large group plans and large, self-insured businesses.

The report talks about the main inflators responsible for raising health costs and the different ways being adopted by employers and payers to deflate the costs and keep them under control. The impact of raising costs on employers, payers, providers and pharmaceutical and life sciences companies is addressed in detail. This could be useful information for those estimating healthcare costs or planning projects in the healthcare industry.

To access this new resource, go to the Industries and Organizations section of the library at https://pmworldlibrary.net/industries-and-organizations/, scroll down and click on “Healthcare, Hospitals and Medical Services”, scroll down to resource. Must be a registered trial, student or full member and logged-in to access.
