20 March 2018 – Mumbai, India – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library on the subject of Human Resources Management (HRM) for P/PM. The new resource is titled “Overlaps between Human Resources’ Strategic Planning and Strategic Management Tools in Public Organizations”.

Strategic planning provides a sense of direction and outlines measurable goals. It helps in guiding day-to-day decisions and evaluating progress as an organization moves forward. This paper throws light on two strategic management tools including value chain analysis and stakeholder analysis in public organizations.

Since human resources today are strategic resources for organizations, it is considered as an integral part of strategic management. Human resource planning is directly linked with strategic planning and institutional policies. Thus, strategic human resource planning as a process is used to establish, develop, and achieve human resource objectives, strategies and policies. Jalil Bagheri in his paper has illustrated models which strengthen the view that evaluation of different patterns and models of human resource planning and making optimal use of them in organizational planning will be fruitful.
