Using EVA to Determine Where You Are

24 January 2019 – Warri, Nigeria – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to Earned Value Management. The new resource is titled “Using EVA to Determine Where You Are”, and article by Dennis J. Frailey (2001), originally published in Software project management and now available online.

In the midst of a typical project, it is often desirable to estimate such quantities as “how much time is left?” or “how much of the work is complete?” or “how much money will the project spend before it is complete?” If these remind you of trips in the family car where the children are wondering “are we there yet?”, it is not surprising. Just as the passengers on a trip wonder how long it will take to get to the destination, so managers have a responsibility to understand how long a project will take to get to its destination - and what it will cost. Those working on the project usually want to know this too.

To access this new resource, go to the Applications and Hot Topics section of the library at https://pmworldlibrary.net/applications-and-topics/,  click on “Earned Value Management”, scroll down to resource. Must be a registered member and logged-in to access.
