Posted on November 19, 2015

New Resource added to Library

Sustainability: Transfer project cannot meet China's water needs

19 November 2015 – Beijing, China – A new section has been added to the PM World Library on Project Failures and Failing Projects where a new resource has been added related to projects and project management failure in and around Beijing, China. Access to information about the South to North Water Diversion project in China is provided.

151119 - South to North water diversion 100xThe project undertaken by the Chinese Government was to alleviate the water supply to millions of people. The South-to-North Water Diversion (SNWD) project would cover over 1,000km of water channels and deliver 25 billion cubic metres of fresh water.   Started in 2002 with an estimated cost of US$62 billion, around $80 billion has already been spent and it’s far from complete. The state of the project is in question; is the project sustainable and at what cost?

To access this new resource, go to https://pmworldlibrary.net/major-projects-programmes/, click on “Failed Projects”, scroll down to China and click on “South-to-North Water Diversion Project”. Must be a registered member to access.
