After £870 million the security of British borders are no safer
9 December 2015 – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library on major project failures. The British Home Office spent hundreds of millions of pounds on e-borders, settlement of disputes, legal action, and finally contract cancellation in 2010; additionally to that an extra £303 million of programmes to correct have led to an amorous project failure. In the UK, this project was called The e-Borders Project.
“A report has revealed that at least £830 million has been spent on a failed project to improve security at Britain's borders - leaving authorities with a creaking system for screening terrorists and criminals that collapses twice a week… The problems were uncovered as spending watchdogs delivered a scathing assessment of the controversial e-Borders project. The plan was devised in 2003 to enhance checks on those entering the country by air, rail and sea by gathering and processing data on passengers before they reach the border”. (itv news)
