Boosting Tech Innovation Ecosystems in Cities

New Resource in the Library

A framework for growth and sustainability of urban tech innovation ecosystems

28 December 2015 – Milan, Italy – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library related to resources for management of major projects and programs. The new resource is titled “Boosting Tech Innovation Ecosystems in Cities”.

151228 - Gasparini - IMAGEThis discussion paper, published by the World Bank in 2015, provides an interesting picture of ITC cities. The city of New York is taken as example for developing a basic framework for cities where IT sectors are getting predominant. New York has become the second-largest tech startup ecosystem in the United State, and technology innovation and social connections have been critical in the growth and sustainability of its ecosystem.

The developed framework revolves around connections and communities, considered as key success factors for growth and sustainability of the city. Then, networking assets, such as skill training events, collaboration spaces, and so on, create and sustain these communities. New technologies - cloud computing, open software and hardware, social networks, and global payment platforms - have eased the creation of startups, requiring fewer physical resources and personnel.

To access this resource, go to https://pmworldlibrary.net/resources-for-management-major-projectsprograms/, scroll down to “Reports” and click on “Boosting Tech Innovation Ecosystems in Cities”. This resource has also been added to the Applications and Industries section of the library under both Urban Development and ICT at https://pmworldlibrary.net/applications-and-industries/. Must be a registered member to access.
