Knowledge Management and Firm Innovation

Posted on June 26, 2025

Access to new resource related to knowledge management added to PMWL

 Resource provided by Ali Ismail

26 June 2025 – Stralsund, Germany – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to Knowledge Management. The new resource is titled “Reality is Different from What We See: Knowledge Management and Firm Innovation”, by Harshani Dedunu, Salinda Weerasinghe, and Ananda Wickcramasinghe, published in the Journal of Innovation & Knowledge in March 2025.

This paper investigates the relationship between knowledge management (KM) and firm innovation, particularly within the banking industry. It challenges the assumption of linearity in KM’s influence on innovation by exploring how different KM dimensions interact in both linear and non-linear ways. The study is situated in the context of Sri Lanka’s banking sector.

The study adopts a deductive, quantitative approach using a structured online survey administered to 437 banking employees. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is employed to analyze both linear and quadratic relationships among KM dimensions and innovation outcomes.

The paper explores how KM dimensions collectively and individually influence firm innovation, identifying non-linear patterns that have been overlooked in prior research. This study will be relevant for scholars and practitioners in knowledge-intensive industries, innovation management, and organizational strategy who seek to understand the interplay between knowledge processes and innovation performance.
