Q.S. Dr. Reuben A. Okereke, PhD QS & Sust. Dev., MSc. Const. Mgt., MSc. Env. Res. Mgt., PG.Dip. Proj. Mgt., H.Dip. QS, BSc. Const. Mgt. (San Diego), FRQS, FIIA, ACIArb, CIPM, MAACEI., recently concluded his third term as the head of department of Quantity Surveying, Imo State University Owerri, Nigeria and currently serving as the head of department of Quantity Surveying at Gregory University, Uturu, Nigeria, in adjunct capacity. He is a multi-talented and erudite scholar and a versatile professional with academic qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Construction Management and Environmental Resources Management. He teaches and supervises undergraduate and graduate students and conducts research on these topics and others at the universities.

His Quantity Surveying professional experience of a little over three decades spans his employment with consultancy and construction firms in Lagos, Nigeria, work as project manager in the Banking sector for eight years, and in-house consultant quantity surveyor for several years for the Imo State University, Owerri, Nigeria.  He has experience as Consultant Quantity Surveyor in private practice as well as several years of teaching in both the University and Polytechnic. His uncommon combination of exceptional industrial and teaching experience stands him out among all his peers and contemporaries both in Nigeria and the global community and has added overwhelming impetus to the quality of teachings received by his students all this years, as well as the quality of his research outputs.

His research interest includes: Construction Contract Management, Construction Project Management, Construction Project Procurement Management, Construction Economics and Project Cost Control, Sustainable Construction, Environmental Impact Assessment and Sustainable Development as well as Energy Resources and Development in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has published extensively in these areas in the national and international journals in particular. Dr. Okereke recently received a group research grant worth millions of naira, as a group leader/principal researcher, from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund of Nigeria (TETFund) with the approval of the Imo State University Management, on the topic: “Unbundling Socio-Political Dynamics Underpinning the Nigerian Energy Crisis”.
