07 November 2018 – Almaty, Kazakhstan – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to P/PM in Business Parks and Incubators. The new resource is titled Astana Business Campus Innovative Cluster”, created by Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System.

Astana Business Campus Innovative cluster (ABC) was created to support all advanced ideas. This is primarily a creative, intellectual, stimulating, technically advanced environment, where innovators from different areas can assemble and communicate. ABC was opened to establish links between university research and industry, to facilitate and support the transfer of scientific developments to the market. The concept is to unite international and Kazakhstan companies, high-tech small and medium enterprises, venture funds, scientists, businessmen, financial experts, students, inventors and everyone ahead of their time, under one roof. To promote this idea, the following elements have been created: Commercialization Office, Business incubator, Technopark, Nazarbayev University schools and science centers.

The Commercialization Office provides scientists and employees of the Nazarbayev University with the opportunity to realize their patentable ideas, developments, inventions and projects with high commercial potential for entering the domestic and international markets. Projects administered by the Commercialization Office have different sectoral orientations: energy efficiency, biotechnology, information technology, robotics, new materials, etc. The purpose of the Business Incubator is to help beginners and businessmen, as well as comprehensive project support, from the original idea to its implementation.

On the territory of the Technopark is a test site for research in the field of renewable energy sources and their integration with the traditional power grid. The territory of the Science Park is divided into cluster zones. At the first stage, three clusters will be organized: a cluster for biomedicine, a cluster for earth sciences and a high-tech cluster (the science of renewable energy sources, information and communication technologies, water technologies and new materials). The area of office, laboratory and experimental facilities exceeds 300 thousand square meters, and the number of employees will be more than 8 thousand people.
