11 October 2018 – Almaty, Kazakhstan – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to public project management. The new resource is titled Center for Development of Project Management in Public Administration”, a research, education and training center established in the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The rapid development of the economy of Kazakhstan is accompanied by the arrival of foreign investment. Today the Government of Kazakhstan allocates millions of dollars for the development of infrastructure. Therefore, for effective control over the allocated funds, a new model of state Project Management (PM) has been formed. In Astana and other cities of Kazakhstan, Project Management Offices (PMO) were opened in August 2017 to effectively manage the Presidential Program «Ruhani Zhangiru». These PMOs apply the best world practices of the Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide (PMBOK). The key issue posed to the PMOs is the effectiveness of government programs. The initiator of this unprecedented experiment in March 2017 was the Attorney-General of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhakip Asanov; this step was advanced not only for law enforcement agencies, but also for the entire public administration system.

The country's leadership understands that efficient use of funds requires trained project managers of a new format who are able to lead with global integration. Therefore, this Сenter was opened at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Center carries out professional certification of personnel in the field of Project Management according to the National standard RK СТ ISO 21500-2014 «Project Management Guide». In addition, the Academy signed an agreement with the training company SPOCE Project Management Ltd (UK) on the possibility of conducting a certification examination at the end of the PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) training course on the basis of the Academy in Russian.
