Resource provided by Maumita Patwary
2nd April 2024 – Mumbai, India – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to Digitalization of Project Management. The new resource is titled “Digitalization of Project Management: Opportunities in Research and Practice”, by Carl Marnewick and Annlizé L. Marnewick and published in Project Leadership and Society in 2022.
The article discusses the impact of technology on project management and highlights a gap in understanding how digitalization affects project management practices. Although we know the reasons for using digital tools in projects, there is little understanding of their wider impact on project management. This suggests that more research is needed to explore this relationship and determine how digitalization affects different aspects of project management.
In addition, the article highlights the potential role of project management offices (PMOs) in promoting project management digitalization efforts. This suggests that PMOs could become key players in the adoption and promotion of digital tools in project management practice. Understanding the digital skills required of the PMO and their role in integrating digital tools into project management processes is critical to the effective use of technology.
The research article ultimately calls for more research on digital project management to address existing knowledge gaps and a deeper understanding of the digitalization process. This highlights the importance of a concerted effort to advance digital project management practices and make them a standard approach in the industry. Ultimately, the goal is to develop a shared vision between researchers and practitioners to advance digital project management.
