Exploring the Organizational Enablers (OE) for Organizational Project Management (OPM)
5 March 2016 – Milan, Italy – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library related to organizational project management. The new resource, originally published in the Project Management Journal, is titled “Enablers for Organizational Project Management in the Chinese Context.”
From the resource-based view of firms, OEs are important drivers for the business value creation processes in project-based organizations. This study proposes an OE system consisting of nine categories in three hierarchies: project management, program management and portfolio management. Firstly, OEs for project management include standardized supporting processes, standardized executing guidance, well-defined responsibility system, and mature organizational structure. Secondly, OEs for program management include an established management paradigm and flexible execution structure. Thirdly, OEs for portfolio management are shared organization culture, organizational identification and self-organized organization. This OE system, comprehensively clarifies the framework of OEs in the Chinese context.
