A world leading risk management society: Access to IRM added to PM World Library
9 February 2016 – Zagreb, Croatia – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library on the subject of Other Professional Associations - Risk Management. The new resource is titled “Institute of Risk Management.”
The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) was founded in April 1986, in United Kingdom, to meet growing demand for a diploma course in risk management. It was one of the first such qualifications with universal benefit for students working in risk management in any sector, whether in industry, commerce, academia or elsewhere. As a specialist institute, they recognized that the multi-disciplinary nature of risk management requires collaboration with other centers of risk expertise around the world. Ever since, IRM actively works with partner organizations to develop new educational programs, thought leadership and continuing professional development.
Members of IRM have the opportunity to acquire a diploma-level qualification, complimented with the International Certificate in Risk Management since 2005. They now deliver general and specialist training courses, events, topical risk management magazine and a variety of other work to underpin the professional development of risk professionals across the world. In 2011, with international demand for risk management expertise growing, they launched Bermuda and Singapore Regional Groups.
UK Regional Groups are located in Ireland, Midlands (UK), North West England, North East England and Scotland, while International Regional Groups gather those from South West, Bermuda, Jordan and Palestine, Kenya, Qatar, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. Groups aim to develop member knowledge, encourage discussion and add value to the risk profession, expand the boundaries of risk management thinking and encourage growth in IRM's community. In 2014, more than half IRM members and students now come from countries outside the UK.
