Access to free BIM Level of Development Specifications 2015 version added to PM World Library

15 June 2016 – Zagreb, Croatia – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library related to BIM and Project Management. The new resource is titled “LOD Specifications 2015.”

In 2008, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) developed the Level of Development (LOD) framework to address the issues that arise when BIM data is used as a communication or collaboration tool. Five levels were established for categorizing the amount of detail and information expected to be conveyed in BIM data. In 2015, the new LOD Specifications 2015 version for Building Information Models was published. The LOD Specification is a reference standard that enables practitioners in the AEC industry to specify and articulate with a high level of clarity the content and reliability of BIM data at various stages in the design and construction process.

The new version has more graphic illustrations and the document is now divided into two parts – “Part A” the geometric specifications and “Part B” addressing the development of non-generic information.  It is another helpful specification, freely accessible to anyone. You can find it on pages of BIMForum – a non-for-profit organization co-sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) whose mission is to facilitate and accelerate the adoption of building information modeling (BIM) in the AEC industry. Visit BIMForum webpage, shortly you will see 2015 LOD Specification image, click it, scroll down to find a download link for you free copy.

To access this new resource, go to the Applications and Hot Topics section of the library at https://pmworldlibrary.net/applications-and-topics/, scroll down to find and click on BIM and Project Management, scroll down to find “Guides, Requirements and Standards.” Must be a registered member and logged-in to access.
