Access to new resource related to solving global environmental problems added to PMWL
Resource provided by Tony Itodo
2 April 2020 – Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to addressing Global Warming. The new resource is titled “Reporters Toolbox: New Resources Help Improve Climate Coverage” and is an article by Susan Joy Hassol published by the SEJ (Society of Environmental Journalists) in 2020.
The resource focuses on climate change, its coverage and resources that could help journalists better report about climate change, stating that even though there is an increase in the number of concerned persons, the coverage of its effects and solutions have been poor until recently where an initiative led by the Columbia Journalism Review and the Nation called Covering Climate Now are establishing more regular coverage and are building climate teams. Some of the resources identified are:
- Climate matters in the newsroom: this provides free weekly localized climate reporting resources directly to an individual journalist’s inbox
- Workshops for Journalists: this is one of the activities conducted by the climate matters in the newsroom in which various topics are dealt with including the use proper use of words to avoid scientific jargon.
- Quick facts for any story: Summaries of the latest science on the linkages between climate change and heat waves, hurricanes, wildfires, torrential rain and flooding.
To access this new resource, go to the Applications and Hot Topics)section of the library at https://pmworldlibrary.net/applications-and-topics/, scroll down to “Solving Global Environmental Problems”, click on “Addressing Climate Change”, scroll down to other resources.
