Sustainability in project management

New resource related to solving global problems added to PM World Library

14 June 2018 – Dallas, London, Sydney – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to sustainability and project management.  The new resource is titled “Sustainability in project management: A literature review and impact analysis” and is a paper by Professors Gilbert Silvius and Ron Schipper published in Social Business in2014.

According to the authors, “Project play a pivotal role in the realization of more sustainable business practices, and the concept of sustainability has more recently also been linked to project management. The emerging literature on this topic provides strong indications that considering sustainability impacts project management processes and practices.  However, standards for project management fail to address the sustainability agenda.

This article provides a structured review of 164 publications, covering the time period 1993 – 2013, that relate sustainability to project management.  The research questions answered are: ‘How is sustainability defined or considered in the context of project management?’ and, ‘How does considering sustainability impact project management?’”

To access this resource, go to the Solving Global Problems section of the PMWL at https://pmworldlibrary.net/solving-global-problems/. Under “Solving Global Environmental Problems”, select “Sustainability”.  Free access, registration and login not required.
