Eight principles in practice outlined in Master’s Thesis at UMEA

11 April 2016 – Milan, Italy – A new resource has been added to the PM World Library related to project management and sustainability. The new resource is titled “Sustainability in Project Management: Eight Principles in Practice

160411 - Setiawan - Sustainability IMAGEAlong with scholars, practitioners have also expressed an interest in understanding the linkage between sustainable development and project management. However, the lack of consideration of sustainability in major project management frameworks also hinders project managers’ ability to deliver project sustainably.

This study introduces eight principles to run projects sustainably, based on recent empirical research that included six case studies from multiple industries. The results show that not all eight principles of sustainability are implemented in project management. The two principles that show a limited applicability in project management are values and ethics as well as consuming income and not capital.
