19 March 2025 – Brighton, UK – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to (general topic here). The new resource is a paper titled “The Rise of Remote Project Management - A New Norm? A Survey on IT Organizations in Bangladesh”, by Aza Ahamed, Nafiz Sadman, Touseef Aziz Khan and Mahfuz Ibne Hannan published in 18th International Conference on Software Technologies in May 2023.
The case study explores the impact of remote work on project management in the Bangladesh’s IT sector. By surveying 250 IT professionals, it evaluates how the Work-from-Anywhere (WFX) model affects productivity, work-life balance, and career growth. Findings show that while remote work enhances efficiency and mental well-being, it also introduces challenges such as communication barriers, lack of career advancement opportunities, and difficulty maintaining a structured work schedule.
The study highlights that digital collaboration tools like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom facilitate remote project management but are insufficient in addressing all challenges. Employees reported higher job satisfaction but struggled with work-life boundaries and professional stagnation. The research suggests that hybrid models combining remote and in-office work may provide an optimal balance. Additionally, it recommends that organizations refine their remote work policies by integrating structured communication practices, professional development initiatives, and mental health support to sustain productivity and employee well-being. These insights contribute to the evolving discourse on remote project management in a post-pandemic world.
