Usman Ali is a master’s level student at COMSATS University Islamabad, pursuing an MS in Project Management. He also holds an M.Phil. in Applied Geology and a BS (Hons) in Applied Geology from the University of the Punjab. With over a decade of experience in project management, energy policy, and infrastructure development, Usman has played a key role in managing large-scale projects. Currently serving as an Assistant Director Technical at the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), Government of Pakistan, he has led initiatives optimizing petroleum supply chains, reducing transportation costs by 20%, and improving stock maintenance protocols with a 98% compliance rate. He was part of team who developed and implemented a national anti-smuggling policy, reducing petroleum smuggling by 40%. Additionally, he supervised a PKR 200 million oil depot project in Skardu, overseeing land acquisition and infrastructure planning to enhance fuel accessibility in remote areas.
Previously, Usman worked on the Chiniot Iron Ore Project (Phase-I & Phase-II), a multi-million-dollar initiative, where he coordinated 44,000 meters of diamond core drilling and ensured adherence to NI 43-101 international exploration standards. He also served as a Project Coordinator for exploration activities, negotiating land acquisitions, managing consultant engagements, and overseeing hydrogeological investigations. At the Geological Survey of Pakistan, he led nationwide mineral exploration projects, including the Placer Gold Project in Punjab and multiple mineral studies in Balochistan, ensuring efficient resource allocation and compliance with international standards. His expertise spans project scheduling, risk mitigation, stakeholder management, and regulatory policy execution. Usman holds multiple professional certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt & White Belt), Scrum, Agile, MS Project, Jira, Primavera, Trello, Risk and Crisis Management (PMI), and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Project Planning, equipping him with the strategic and technical skills to lead high-impact projects successfully.
