Access to new resource related to project sustainability added to PMWL

21 October 2021 – Sao Paulo, Brazil – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to the project management and project sustainability. The new resource is titled “Fundamentals of project sustainability”, by John Morfaw. It was published as a conference paper at 2014 PMI Global Congress Proceedings in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
The paper explores the most basics concepts of project sustainability, with a special approach to metrics, characteristics, measurement and parameters involved in the effective and efficient implementation of projects that contributes to sustainable development. The author introduces the meaning of some characteristics related to project sustainability such as its adaptability to changing environment and its implement ability, among others.
According to him, projects should be approached through a strategy that he calls “sustainability journey”, meaning projects go from merely compliant/legal-driven set of activities to real transforming tool for sustainable growth. In order to achieve the last step to the mentioned journey, it will be necessary a Project Sustainability Management (PSM) system as well as a Project Sustainability Management plan, containing real actions to ensure the long-term sustainability of a project, with focus on well-defined goals and objectives of the project.
