26 August 2024 – Rawalpindi, Pakistan – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to Blockchain & Project Management. The new resource is titled “The Role of Blockchain in E-Governance and Decision-Making in Project and Program Management”, by Mounir El Khatib, Asma Al Mulla and Wadha Al Ketbi, and published in Advances in Internet of Things in 2022.
The paper examines the impact of blockchain technology on e-governance within the project and program management industry. As e-governance gains traction globally for enhancing service delivery, transparency, and decision-making, blockchain emerges as a promising tool to address the challenges associated with traditional project management approaches. Through case studies from the UAE and insights from experts, the research highlights the advantages of blockchain, such as improved transparency, efficiency, and decision-making, particularly in government and private sectors. The study also identifies significant challenges, including regulatory issues, stakeholder collaboration, and the need for greater awareness and alignment among involved parties.
The analysis emphasizes the potential of blockchain to enhance program governance by providing decentralized, transparent, and secure systems that facilitate better decision-making and management. Despite the identified challenges, continuous collaboration between the public and private sectors, along with increased awareness and the development of a robust blockchain ecosystem, is crucial for the successful deployment of this technology. The paper concludes by recommending ongoing partnerships between academia and industry to address challenges and foster the broader adoption of blockchain in program governance.
