15 September 2024 – Rawalpindi, Pakistan – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to Healthcare Digitalization and project management. The new resource is titled Evaluating the Effectiveness of IT Project Management in Healthcare Digitalization: A Review, by Odunayo Josephine Akindote, Abimbola Oluwatoyin Adegbite, Adedolapo Omotosho, Anthony Anyanwu, & Chinedu Paschal Maduka; and published in International Medical Science Research Journal in 2024.

The research paper explores the integration of information technology (IT) in healthcare and how project management plays a pivotal role in driving healthcare digitalization efforts. The paper examines how digital tools, such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and telemedicine, are transforming healthcare delivery by improving patient care and operational efficiency. However, the research also identifies key challenges, including data interoperability, resistance to change, and cybersecurity risks. IT project management is presented as crucial for navigating these complexities, ensuring that digital initiatives align with organizational goals and meet regulatory requirements.

The paper also emphasizes the importance of agile methodologies, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous evaluation in healthcare IT projects. It highlights best practices, such as clear project objectives, stakeholder engagement, and robust change management strategies, which are essential for overcoming resistance and ensuring project success. Future trends like AI, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are discussed as potential innovations that can further enhance healthcare digitalization. The research concludes that effective IT project management is key to ensuring the successful implementation of these technologies, ultimately contributing to a more efficient and patient-centric healthcare system.
