11 February 2019 – Mumbai, India – Access to a new resource has been added to the PM World Library (PMWL) related to major government initiatives (programs) launched by the State of Telangana, India. The new resource is titled “Government Initiatives in State of Telangana, India”.
In June 2014, Telangana was introduced as the 29th state of the India, Hyderabad is the capital of the state. Telangana is situated on the Deccan Plateau. It is home to three national parks and eight wildlife sanctuaries. It is surrounded by Andhra Pradesh from the south and east end, Maharashtra and Karnataka from the west, and Odisha and Chhattisgarh from the north end. Telugu is the generally spoken language in the state. Hindi, Urdu and English are also usually spoken. Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Warangal are the key cities in the state.
Telangana is one of the leading exporters of IT services in India. In 2016-17, the overall IT exports from Telangana were valued at US$ 13.27 billion. According to the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), cumulative FDI inflows in Telangana from April 2000 to December 2017, totalled US$ 14.524 billion.
Realising the importance of World Wide Web as the most widely used medium for implementation of e-governance initiatives, Telangana Government and its entities were one of the first in the country to have come up with large number of web/online applications to ensure maximum reach of government information and services to the citizens. However, very soon a need was felt for an overarching common set of standards from technical, editorial, usability, accessibility and administrative standpoints.
Government of Telangana has always been at the forefront of implementing different initiatives for the people of the state, having pioneered popular projects such as Kanti Velugu, 'Rythu Bandhu' Scheme, SHE Teams, Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha, Haritha Haram, Kalyana Lakshmi/ Shaadi Mubarak, Aasara pensions, Arogya Lakshmi, Housing for the poor, Land distribution to Dalits and many more. 24 investment intentions with proposed investments worth Rs 1,740 crores (US$ 269.98 million) were filed up to April 2018.Out of the country’s pharma production, Telangana accounted for one-third share; the state government plans to enhance it further by promoting a pharma city.
'Rythu Bandhu' Scheme is one important example. To enhance agriculture productivity and income to the farmers besides breaking the vicious cycle of rural indebtedness, Agriculture Investment Support Scheme, popularly known as Rythu Bandhu is introduced from the year 2018-19 Kharif season to take care of initial investment needs of every farmer.
These are a few initiatives that help to make the society and world a better place to live and reflect a march forward to more inclusive participation. It means increased happiness for families and the organisations where governments can make a difference. Newly formed Telangana State has become a role model for other States in motivating self-help groups, initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment, and early childhood education to improve quality of life.
